Libraries are a snapshot of our communities. They are not only spaces for learning and exploring, but also safe havens for those most vulnerable. Although we cannot control what comes through the front doors, we can be prepared and empowered to respond. My goal is to help you develop strategies, policies, and practices that support staff in creating safe inclusive spaces where all people are welcome.

Library security doesn’t always mean having security or police officers and not all libraries have access to security. I will encourage you to take a holistic approach at creating safe spaces for staff and patrons.

Through a trauma-informed, human centered lens I will provide guidance and work with you to develop strategies to create a library where staff are skilled and empowered to manage what comes through the doors.
